Transit Trade – Transport Rates Terms & Conditions – In out Jeddah
1. Documentation & Routing (Jeddah Transit)
- Mandatory Transit Documents: Commercial Invoice, Certificate of Origin, and Phytosanitary Certificate (for perishables) must be finalized for transit use before customs processing.
- B/L Clauses: The Bill of Lading (B/L) must explicitly state: “POD: Jeddah” and “Final Destination: [Jebel Ali, Dubai / Doha, Qatar]”.
- Consignee Fields: The ultimate consignee must be a legal entity capable of issuing an immediate Delivery Order (D/O) or Authorization; forwarders cannot be listed as the consignee.
- Release Method: Cargo must be released via Telex Release / Surrendered B/L at the origin port to prevent severe administrative bottlenecks at the transit port to estimate.
2. Destination Border & Regulatory Clearance
- Local Agent Consultation: The customer must consult a local clearance agent in the destination country (UAE/Qatar) to verify all local border-entry requirements.
- Import & Product Registrations: The consignee must ensure all mandatory food, drug, or health authority product registrations are active prior to the cargo reaching the destination border.
- Border Preparation: The destination clearance agent must be fully prepped at the land border to avoid transport delays, especially for unpalletized/loose cargo.
3. Equipment, Free Time & Delays
- Extended Free Time: Port transit inspections in Jeddah can take 7 to 10 days due to congestion. Shippers must secure extended container free days from the shipping line at the origin port.
- Truck Demurrage & Waiting Charges: Standard free time for offloading is [Insert Hours/Days]. Thereafter, truck/reefer waiting charges apply if offloaded late or used as mobile storage.
- Temperature-Controlled Cargo: For refrigerated transits (e.g., +4°C potatoes or +15°C chocolate/biscuits), additional structural ground fees—such as destuffing and daily plugging—apply on top of base clearance and movement rates.
4. Financial & Payment Terms
- Advance Payment: Total quoted transport and clearance fees must be paid in advance before cargo movement or truck dispatch.
- Actual Cost Billing: All shipping line Delivery Order (D/O) fees, port charges, empty return extensions, and container security deposits ($5,000 USD) will be billed at actual cost against official receipts.
